Man of Many unveils 2023’s ‘Man of Many 100’

Men’s lifestyle publication Man of Many has shared its annual top 100 consumer products list, highlighting the best value products released in 2023.

The announcement:

Australia’s largest men’s lifestyle publication, Man of Many, has unveiled its official list of the top 100 consumer products of 2023. Now in its fifth year, the Man of Many 100 highlights the best value products released over the past 12 months, according to hands-on reviews from Man of Many’s dedicated team of technology, style, automotive and culture editors.

A deep-dive into the publication’s core verticals, the annual ranking celebrates the top products across eight distinct categories: Tech, Auto, Watches, Drinks, Fashion, Outdoors, Home & Living, and Fitness & Sport. According to Man of Many editor-in-chief, Nick Hall, the list was largely curated based on personal experience, delivered over months of rigorous testing and extensive industry research.

“We’ve always been focused on the latest in products, culture and style, but in the last 12 months, Man of Many has made a concerted effort to highlight the innovations that really matter,” Hall said. “Concentrating on products that we personally tested and evaluated ourselves, the Man of Many 100 is designed to arm our savvy readers with the tools they need to tackle the modern world, whether that be through pioneering developments in AI or the latest in considered an indulgence.”

Top Brands Recognised

The list of brands recognised in the 2023 Man of Many 100 includes several industry stalwarts, both domestic and international. Iconic global brands such as Longines, Apple, Kia and LG earned honours for their flagship releases this year, while closer to home, furniture specialists King Living, Melbourne whisky-producer Starward and South Australian winemaker St Hugo were recognised for their contributions.

2024 Consumer Product Trends

A holistic look at the year in products, the Man of Many 100 reveals a sweeping change in consumer trends. Hall explained that in addition to personal reviews, the list also takes into account each product’s influence on the market. Cultural phenomena such as the reveal of the Apple Vision Pro and the long-awaited arrival of the Tesla Cybertruck firmed as pivotal moments on the consumer product calendar and, as such, could not be ignored.

“In 2023, we saw technology take on new life, spurring some of the most provocative and interesting product reveals in recent memory,” Hall said. “Even concepts that have yet to hit the market, like Apple’s Vision Pro and Motorola’s wrap-around Adaptive Display, have altered the way we think about product use. It was important for us to shine a light, not simply on our favourite products of 2023, but also on the innovative concepts that provide a glimpse into the future of consumer technology.”

Key Insights

● AI remains an integral part of product development and integration. Five of the eight categories in the list included products with an AI focus, indicating a rapid shift towards new market technologies.
● Convenience is key. The shift in consumer priorities and flexible working arrangements has seen more brands focus on portability as a cornerstone feature. Handheld and compact devices were the big winners in the Tech category, with more than 75 per cent of the products highlighted able to operate on the go.
● Sustainability is a high priority. Consumer priorities will continue to drive sustainability as a key purchasing consideration in 2024, following widespread industrial change. Just under a quarter of all cars selected in the list (23%) were electric vehicles, with this number expected to rise in 2024.

Man of Many 100 Methodology

The Man of Many 100 is determined based on hands-on reviews from Man of Many’s internal team of technology, style, automotive and culture editors. The rankings are reflective of products released over the 12-month period between January 1 and December 18, 2023, and are subject to analysis across the key metrics of function, design, value and cultural impact. In instances where the products were unreleased or not yet available for testing, cultural impact was weighed more heavily.

Man of Many is proud to serve a broad and diverse community of consumer product fans from across Australia and the globe. As such, Man of Many reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any product, brand or point of interest listed on Man of Many for an award based on additional factors that reflect Man of Many corporate policies and values.

NOTE: Some of the products listed previously appeared on Man of Many in a paid partnership capacity, however, this was clearly disclosed in the original coverage and in no way influenced the selection process for the Man of Many 100.
