Managing director of Nova 93.7 Gary Roberts resigns after 16 years

The managing director of Nova Entertainment’s Nova 93.7 Perth, Gary Roberts, has announced his resignation from the company after 16 years.

Roberts said he tendered his resignation with “sadness” and leaves behind an incredible team.

Roberts’ last day will be July 2

“I am so proud to have been part of building Nova 93.7 from the ground up. We’ve put together a world-class team, both on and off air, and created a high-performing business that continues to deliver record ratings and revenue. After 50 years in the radio industry, for me, it’s time for a change.”

Cathy O’Connor, Nova Entertainment’s CEO, said in a statement: “It is hard to sum up Gary’s contribution to both Nova Entertainment and the radio industry in a single sentence. Gary has been an industry icon and a tireless leader for our very successful Perth team. We sincerely thank him for his contribution over many, many years.”

The sales director of Nova 93.7, Jamie Martinovich, will act as the interim managing director until a permanent replacement is appointed.

In the first radio ratings survey of 2018, Nova placed second behind Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5. In People 10+, the SCA-owned Mix had a 15.7% audience share (up 1.1 share points from the previous survey’s 14.6%), while Nova had 12.8% (down from 13.7% in the previous survey).

Nova was also second in breakfast behind Mix,  but dominated drive with a 16.0% share for the syndicated Kate, Tim & Marty show – the highest FM drive-time audience share across the country.
