Mango’s Adam Burns to walk 1966km across South America to the FIFA World Cup

An account manager from public relations firm Mango will attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time a football has been dribbled 1966km, walking across South America to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Adam Burns, along with mates David Bewick and Pete Johnston will attempt to raise £20,000 for the J de V Arts Care Trust which will use the money to build a water well in Bahia, North East Brazil.

Retired England footballer Alan Shearer has wished the boys the best of luck in a video message.

The trio will film a documentary during their journey, focusing on the role football plays in the lives of the people encounter. Burns, Bewick and Johnston will travel to places along the way to the World Cup that are rich in football history.

In support of the trek, the three are holding a charity football soccer match on Sunday January 19 at Centennial Park in Sydney.

The match will see a Walk to the World Cup XI (featuring many people from creative agency DDB) take on an Australian Media XI.

Each player will be asked to donate a minimum of $50 to the charity.
