Mark Dando joins Fairfax Digital in mobile role

Mark Dando has been appointed to the role of mobile market development specialist at Fairfax Digital.  

The announcement:

Fairfax Digital is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Dando as its Mobile Market Development Specialist.

Mark will focus on developing the company’s mobile business and strategy as well as building, maintaining and continually improving Fairfax Digital’s mobile media products.

With more than 15 years of strategic commercial experience in mobile media and video, Mark has worked with a diverse range of companies including ninemsn, British Telecommunications and the UK governments 3G advisory group.

“Mobile in all its forms is a rapidly growing and important part of our business and requires an experienced leader to build on our strong position in the market. With Mark’s impressive background, I am confident we have secured the strongest person for the role,” Jane Huxley General Manager, Media Fairfax Digital said.

“I’m a firm believer in combining strong media brands with the best of new mobile technology,” Mark said.

“At a time when we’re seeing so many new and innovative mobile Apps, it’s definitely an exciting point to be working in digital media in Australia. I’m delighted to be joining the Fairfax Digital team.”

Mark specialises in bringing new revenue streams to established business. He was responsible for launching the world’s first film channel for mobile, now live across the Americas and Europe, and played an integral role in releasing the annual Oscar winning short films on iTunes. Mark also recently launched ninemsn’s mobile advertising network, a cross carrier opportunity that coined deals with Vodafone and 3 to sell their company’s inventory.
