MRN creates two new roles

The Macquarie Radio Network has appointed Batoul Alamein to the role of  Strategy and Research Manager and Matthew Summerill to Business Development Manager.

The announcement:

Macquarie Radio Network (MRN) today announced the creation of two new roles. The additions see the appointment of Batoul Alamein as Strategy and Research Manager, and Matthew Summerill as Business Development Manager – National Syndicated Networks. The creation of these positions comes at time of growth and expansion for the network, designed to strengthen its national sales effort.

Mark Noakes, National Sales and Marketing Director for MRN, said, “We are pleased to welcome both Batoul Alamein and Matthew Summerill to the MRN family. Our understanding of the purchasing power of the ’mature affluent’ demographic is critical to our clients. Batoul will play a pivitol role in analysing this segment and work with both our sales department and clients to develop strategic opportunities across our continually expanding network. Matthew will ensure these opportunities are communicated effectively to national advertisers.”

Macquarie Radio syndicates its content to up to 60 stations nationally and launched Melbourne Talk Radio 1377 (a sister station to 2GB) in March. MTR stars Steve Price, Steve Vizard, Chris Smith, Ross Greenwood, and Scott Cam.

Matthew Summerill’s role as Business Development Manager will focus on the development of advertising opportunities across MRN on a national scale, via five segmented content platforms that are specifically designed for national advertisers.

MRN’s five segmented content platforms are:

1. News and Information

2. Business, Finance and Technology

3. Sports and Entertainment

4. Lifestyle

5. Health and Wellbeing

Matthew said, “It is with great pleasure that I accept this position with the MRN team. The network’s growing national footprint makes for an especially attractive proposition for marketers seeking to extend their over 40 campaign to regional Australia in a pervasive and engaging manner.”

Matthew joins the MRN team with a rich background in media advertising, with over 20 years experience with companies such as Crocmedia and The Radio Sales Network.

Batoul Alamein will be charged with the role of directing research that will offer advertisers insight into the ‘mature affluent’ market – an audience of which MRN commands a 28.7%* share within the Sydney market alone.

Speaking of her appointment, Batoul said, “I’m delighted to be joining Mark and the MRN team at a particularly exciting time in the radio industry. On the eve of an impending election, it will be fantastic to see a media outlet provide voters with both informed commentary and a platform by which they may voice their concerns and opinions. There’s never been a better time to engage the over 40 audience.”

Batoul, a graduate from the University of Western Sydney, joins MRN from Commercial Radio Australia where she worked in Strategic Insights, and has previously worked with the Australian Traffic Network.

Batoul Alamein commences with MRN today; Matthew Summerill will commence on August 9.
