Mark Lawson joins Wavemaker as national head of performance
Group M’s media agency Wavemaker has appointed Mark Lawson as its national head of performance.
Lawson joins the newly-formed agency from WPP’s digital agency Essence where he was most recently its client account director in Sydney.
In his new role at Wavemaker Lawson will lead the agency’s performance offering and oversee the processes for Wavemaker’s performance products, search and social.
Lawson will report into Wavemaker’s chief growth and product officer James Hier.
“Having taken on the mantle of Group M’s largest media agency, it has boosted our ability to bring in high-calibre individuals such as Mark. Clients are crying out for performance products and Mark’s in-depth knowledge and world-class expertise will bring us to the leading edge of media, ensuring we continue to drive value and growth for our clients,” Hier said in a statement.
Wavemaker was formally launched in Australia in November last year after holding group Group M merged two of its media agencies MEC and Maxus.
“I was attracted to the opportunity to be part of the biggest agency within WPP and Group M and to work across Wavemaker’s huge range of clients. I see my role as getting under the hood of what clients want, and helping them understand the right platforms and KPIs for achieving their goals and maximising return on investment,” Lawson said.
“Digital marketing never stands still so to be truly effective in this space, we have to continually push the boundaries and never settle for mediocre.”
