Mark McCraith moves to senior Maxus role
Mark McCraith has moved from sister agency Mindshare to Maxus following last week’s sudden double departure of chairman Rob Bartlett and MD Richard Smith.
McCraith was previously MD of Mindshare Melbourne. In his new role he will be chief operating officer of Maxus and run the Melbourne office. He will also have national trading responsibilities.
Mumbrella revealed the unexpected departure of Bartlett and Smith from Maxus late last week.
David Gaines, CEO of Maxus Australia said: “We are clearly extremely happy to have somebody of Mark’s calibre moving into the new role of COO for Maxus. His abilities are perfectly aligned with the pivotal role Melbourne plays in the development of the Maxus brand in Australia. For a number of years the Richmond agency has been amongst the best in execution and trading. Its been quite tough to find somebody who can both continue this standard our clients expect and evolve the agency to the next level. Fortunately Macca has all the necessary experience and importantly, the motivation.”
McCraith said: “Maxus is a dynamic media brand breaking the traditional norms and creating exciting new futures for clients. I look forward to working with the Maxus Melbourne team and enhancing on an already outstanding trading operation.”
He takes up the new role on Monday. Sharon Pitcher, currently business director on the Ford account, has been appointed interim GM of Mindshare’s Melbourne office .

Richard Smith didn’t get the ‘boot’. The only ‘boots’ involved were the ones he wore when he walked out the door.
