Married at First Sight cheating scandal helps Nine beat Seven’s MKR
The affair between Married at First Sight contestants Dean and Davina handed Nine its highest ever regular episode audience, finishing the night with 1.351m metro viewers.
Nine’s reality show was more than 200,000 viewers ahead of Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, which averaged a metro audience of 1.139m. Ten’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’s elimination episode managed 618,000.
The key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) also reported Nine’s Married at First Sight as the preferred program of the evening. My Kitchen Rules was the second most watched program across all demographics.

Outside of the reality shows, sport dominated OzTam’s overnight preliminary ratings. The ninth night of Seven’s 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics attracted 935,000 metro viewers while the later session managed 442,000. The Winter Olympics was also the most watched program in the multi channels, with 226,000 viewers.
The consistency in audience from Seven’s Winter Olympics coverage was enough to give them a Sunday night win, with a main channel share of 27.2%. Nine’s share was the only other channel over 20% on 23.1%. ABC had a larger audience than Ten, with shares of 12.3% and 9.8%. Meanwhile, SBS’ share was 3.3%.
Another strong performer last night was ABC’s Hawke: The Larrikin and The Leader, with a metro audience of 597,000 metro viewers.
Of the evening news bulletins, Seven was watched by 1.023m and Nine News was watched by 961,000. The Sunday Project – which saw new co-host Lisa Wilkinson interview Celine Dion – averaged 411,000.
