MasterChef tops entertainment and wins key advertising demos

A quiet Thursday saw MasterChef Australia top all three key advertising demos, while a metro audience of 578,000 was enough to make it the #1 entertainment program.

Nationally, the program brought in 744,000 viewers, placing it behind Seven’s Home And Away and The Chase. Ten will hope that rebooting Celebrity MasterChef later in the year will bring in greater metro audiences.

In metro markets, The Chase aired to 575,000 metro viewers, ahead of Home And Away with 561,000 metro viewers, both landing in the top ten overall. Home And Away’s average national audience of 1.01 million is its first time to break that mark so far this year, and the best week for the program since July, 2020.

Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live brought 334,000 metro viewers, and Seven’s sports panel show The Front Bar had 388,000 metro viewers.

ABC’s Foreign Correspondent was viewed by 429,000 in metro cities, while 319,000 tuned in to Q+A.

The top-rating program overall was again Seven News, with its 1.031 million metro viewers making it the only program to break the million mark.

Seven was the #1 network overall in network share, with 28.3% placing it ahead of Nine’s 26.6%, Ten’s 19.5% and ABC’s 17%.

But Nine claimed the top-rating primary channel with a 19.3% share. Meanwhile, 7mate was the #1 multi-channel on 4.4%.
