Masterchef wins 7.30pm timeslot as Seven’s House Rules boosts audience

house rulesSeven’s reality renovation show House Rules boosted its numbers last night, posting a metro audience of 924,000, up from last week’s audience of 856,000.

However it wasn’t enough to beat Ten’s Masterchef which was watched by 1.045m, up on last week’s audience of 998,000 metro viewers. It was also the most-watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49, 25-54).

Seven did win the night with an audience share of 19.8 per cent as Nine managed a share of 17.9 per cent. Ten claimed third place with a share of 16.5 per cent, while the ABC settled for a share of 13.2 per cent.

Also in the 7.30pm timeslot, Nine’s The Big Bang Theory grabbed an audience of 997,000, out-rating Seven’s House Rules. A second episode of the US sitcom at 8pm was watched by 810,000.

In the 8.30pm timeslot, Nine’s Life on the Dole pulled 452,000 metro viewers, while Ten’s Madam Secretary was watched by 624,000, slightly down on last week’s audience of 657,000. Last week’s episode of Madam Secretary picked up an extra 151,000 viewers to take its total audience of 807,000.

Seven’s Criminal Minds, airing from 8.45pm, grabbed 678,000 viewers.

On the ABC, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, airing in the3 8.30pm timeslot, was watched by 643,000, slightly down on last week’s audience of 662,000.

Also on the ABC, 7.30 pulled 747,000, QI (8pm) was watched by 557,000, and Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (9.30pm) saw 585,000 metro viewers tune in.

In the news battleground, Nine News won the night with a 6pm audience of 1.191m and 6.30pm audience of 1.072m. Seven News at 6pm was watched by 1.011m, dropping off to 998,000 at 6.30pm.
