Matildas’ keeper Mackenzie Arnold wants to add MILO-making to Australian citizenship test

Matildas’ goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold is launching a petition to add the vital skill of knowing how to make a MILO to the Australian citizenship test.

In her new role as unofficial ‘Minister of Defence’, Arnold has written an open letter to the Minister for Immigration, Tony Burke, imploring to consider adding MILO-making skills alongside identifying native flora and fauna on the test.

“For 90 years, this icon has been enjoyed by Aussies of all ages,” Arnold wrote.

“It has graced the breakfast tables and after-training routines of generations, inspiring grit, mateship, and a can-do spirit in Australia.

“Whether on the sporting field, after school, or before bedtime, MILO is always there for us.”

Arnold explained: “As a lifelong MILO fan, I know just how much this iconic Australian drink means to us all. I’m calling on Aussies to help get the iconic drink officially recognised in the Australian citizenship test.”

Nestlé head of dairy marketing, Sid Kajale, added: “As we celebrate 90 years of MILO, it’s clear that this choc-malty drink holds a special place in the hearts of Australians.

Kajale said the drink is “deeply rooted” in Australian culture – “from childhood memories to sporting traditions; whether you enjoy it hot or cold, making a MILO is a rite of passage and one we hope all future citizens of Australia will learn to create and enjoy.”

MILO fans can sign the petition here.
