Maurice Blackburn expands social justice campaign with 12-week podcast

Maurice Blackburn has expanded its social justice brand campaign with a 12-week podcast created in partnership with Mamamia.

Fighting for fair podcast

The stories were developed in a workshop with The Moth in November as the ‘Fighting For Fair’ campaign expands. The campaign will be available through Mamamia and on iTunes.

The 12-week podcast series features Cathy Freeman, Peter Greste, Michael Caton and Carlotta and will detail the stars’ fight against social injustice, showing a different person’s story each week.

The podcast is the second instalment in the social justice campaign, created by One Green Bean, which launched in September with a 105-second film.

The first episode of the podcast ‘Her Hand in Mine’ has been released and features lawyer Corinne Grant and Cath Pope discussing Pope’s fight for marriage equality.

Rebecca Hanlan, national brand and social media manager at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, said: “Too often, social justice only becomes clear when we or someone we care for comes into direct contact with a social injustice.

“Through these personal stories, we hope to demonstrate the importance of fighting not just for our own rights, but for the rights of all Australians.”

Carl Ratcliff, One Green Bean CEO, said: “At a time when Australian news feeds are flooded with issues like the offshore detention of asylum seekers and the fight for marriage equality, we’ve released a platform that celebrates the ability of stories to honour both the diversity and commonality of human experience and satisfies a vital human need for connection”.

The podcast series is available here.
