NRMA take election campaign to the streets

The NRMA has created a pre-election  “visual petition” drawn on streets to lobby for better road funding in the lead-up to tomorrow’s vote.

Using 3D potholes, road cracks and markings, the publicity stunt aimed to illustrate the poor conditions of many NSW roads. Chalk was provided for spectators and media to “Have Their Say on Roads” by scrawling messages on the most important related issues.

The stunt was created by Maverick PR.

Peter Khoury, the NRMA’s Head of Media, said: “Getting cut-through in a Federal Election campaign is always hard work, so we knew we would need to execute a campaign that people could relate to, get engaged with and was different to anything else other organisations were doing.”

The campaign also utilised social media. NSW motorists were encouraged to post messages via Facebook that could be scribed on to the road.
