Maxus retains JetStar

Jetstar_KeyMediaMaxus has retained JetStar in Australia – reckoned to be worth $20-25m locally – after a regional pitch that saw the GroupM media agency pick up the Qantas-backed airline in other markets in Asia Pacific.

The regional incumbent was Aegis Media’s Carat.

David Koczkar, group chief commercial officer for Jetstar commented: “As the leading low cost carrier in Asia Pacific, we are looking for the benefits and efficiencies one media agency can bring to our brand and opportunities to leverage that scale across all markets. Maxus has been a valued partner in Australia, and we are looking forward to working with them across the entire region.”

The review started in the second half of 2012, with the aim of consolidating media planning and buying services across Asia Pacific, scrapping a local market by market approach.

Neil Stewart, CEO of Maxus Asia Pacific added: “We are delighted with the opportunity to extend our relationship and to work with Jetstar across the Asia Pacific region. They are a terrific brand with high ambition, and an appetite for innovation and smart thinking – driven by the highly competitive nature of the low cost airline sector.”
