McCann hires client services director Simon Gawn
McCann Sydney has appointed Simon Gawn as client services director.
Gawn’s appointment follows former CEO Ben Lilley’s acquisition of McCann Worldgroup Australia in February after two years away from the business.
Most recently, Gawn spent a year at Merkle as client partner. He has previously spent nine years with Ogilvy in Sydney, New York and London, leaving as group business director.
Gawn said of his appointment: “I’m excited and proud to be part of the next iteration of McCann. We need to genuinely listen to our clients, evolve around them and behave like a humble hungry independent whilst leveraging McCann Worldgroup’s integrated creative and strategic capabilities.”
Lilley said: “Simon’s wealth of creative and technology experience makes him an incredibly valuable addition to the team. He’s just the right person to arrive at McCann at just the right time.
“Simon’s true passion is creative effectiveness and we’re delighted to have him now leading McCann’s creative and media services across our full suite of local and global Sydney clients including Coca Cola, CPW, eBay, MasterCard, LinkedIn, Menulog, Microsoft and Nestlé.”
Another day and the revolving door sweeps someone new into McCann. I’m sure this guy is good, right. But let’s be honest, in 12-18 months he’ll probably find himself in the same position as every other good person who once came to McCann full of energy. You know how this story ends.

Well that’s not a very positive way to welcome Simon. If you did know him you’d know that yes he is indeed good and a very decent guy. And he’s been warmly welcomed by all the other very good people at McCann and our clients alike. As he should be.
