Mccann Sydney appoints Oliver Maisey as CD
McCann Worldgroup has brought New Zealand creative director Oliver Maisey to Sydney where he will work on Australian clients while also remaining CD of McCann NZ.
The move is the latest since the agency acquired Smart whose management have taken the helm at McCann.
According to the announcement, Maisey’s appointment is “part of the continued reinvention of McCann as a more progressive and less traditional agency”.
Prior to McCann NZ, Maisey spent 18 months at BBDO Dubai, and has held posts in New Zealand including ECD at M&C Saatchi, DraftFCB and Generator Bates.
McCann ECD John Mescall said: “We couldn’t be happier to have Ollie in Sydney. He’s come across to be a major part of our reinvention of McCann into a far more progressive agency, and I couldn’t think of anyone better suited to the task.
“The way he thinks and behaves makes him a natural leader. And the quality of his creative output speaks for itself. He’s exactly the calibre of talent we’re now attracting to the agency.”
The agency is currently hunting for a national head of planning and a national head of digital.
Sicne the merger, McCann has been developing a higher profile, in part because of new CEO Ben Lilley’s stance on its new direction. In a controversial guest post for Mumbrella, he argued that there was nothing wrong with an agency leaning towards hiring younger people.
