McDonald’s brings back Monopoly promotion and gives a win to small NSW town
McDonald’s has brought its Monopoly promotion back, and has launched the competition with new ads which see McDonald’s employees racing around a city erecting giant Monopoly signs.

As part of the promotion, the fast-food chain visited a regional town it believed it was in need of a win. Guerie, a small town around 400km away from Sydney in the central west of NSW, was the lucky town to be visited by McDonald’s ‘Community Chest’ which gave out ‘wins’ to members of the community.

Former Australian rugby player Matt Bourke was sent to the small town to train its struggling football team ahead of a match against Yeoval, with other rugby players sent to supplement the team.
McDonald’s also gave $10,000 to the town to be spent on the community’s power-bills, a holiday for a young family, $100 to a community volunteer, and a donation of $25,000 to the Chris O’Brien charity ride on behalf of a local who Chris O’Brien had treated.

Just to be clear – the holiday is for two. Not a young family. A very carefully edited element of the otherwise heartwarming, tearjerking piece.
