McWhopper continues winning making Y&R NZ Agency of the Year at AWARD Awards
Y&R New Zealand has dominated the AWARD Awards, being named agency of the year and taking home best in show for its McWhopper campaign for Burger King and Peace One Day.
The NZ agency won a total of nine gold pencils across PR, direct marketing, digital, creative innovation, promotion & experiential and branded entertainment and content.
Eight of the awards were for the McWhopper campaign, while the agency snared another gold for its Living Memories campaign for Brake.
M&C Saatchi was the second most successful agency on the night, winning five gold, while GPY&R in Brisbane and Melbourne shared four.
On the back of the bold challenge to McDonald’s to create the McWhopper, Burger King was named client of the year ahead of Mars Australia and New Zealand and The Blue Ball Foundation.
BBDO was named the Network of the Year ahead of Y&R.
The award for creative of the year went to Collenso BBDO copywriter Simon Vicars.
Chairman of AWARD, Wilf Sweetland, said that the results showed that creative in Australia and New Zealand was in a healthy state.
“For the second year running, 32 gold pencils have been awarded – a figure which bears testament to the outstanding level of talent in the Asia Pacific region,” Sweetland said.
“This is an exciting year for the AWARD Awards as we join forces with Semi Permanent festival of creativity and design for the first time, and we are delighted to be sharing such an impressive showcase of creative work from our industry.”
