Measuring engagement to be topic of next Social Media Club Sydney
Measuring engagement in social media is to be the subject of the next meeting of Social Media Club Sydney.
The event – which will shift from the previous venue of Will & Toby’s to the larger space of The Arthouse Hotel on Pitt Street – takes place on Monday July 20.
Speakers include Nick Holmes a Court of social media monitoring company Buzz Numbers, Jye Smith of Switched On Media, and Matt Granfield of DP Dialogue. The session will be moderated by Heather Ann Snodgrass of Amnesia Razorfish.
Bookings have now opened for the free event. (Update: Despite the larger venue, all the tickets have gone. However, a small number tend to become available on the day, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the #smcsyd hashtag on Twitter on the day.)
Meanwhile, video of Social Media Club Sydney’s previous debate on where social media should sit within the agency landscape is now available online.
The debate featured Mark Pollard of ad agency McCann Erickson; Iain McDonald of digital agency Amnesia Razorfish; Geoffrey Emerson of Zing PR; social media consultant Stephen Collins and Karla Courtney, Online Editor of Qantas Travel Insider. The discussion was moderated by Tim Burrowes of Mumbrella.

Social Media is just as much part of a strategy as any other traditional forms of media but the risk of making it too obvious means that you can be punished in ways that you could never have been with traditional media.
Social media means people can use the same media you use to promote your product, to turn the mob against you. I think its best to say, approach with caution. Social media is a double edged sword.

Any chance of one in Melbourne please? Surely we have some thought leaders in our city too? 😉
