MEC appoints programmatic and social director as Carat names head of innovation

In agency-people moves MEC Australia has welcomed back Greg Cattelain to the newly-created role of programmatic and social director while Carat Australia has appointed Rob Tilt to the newly-created national role of head of innovation.

Cattelain, who is currently at Initiative as digital client director, is tasked with managing the agency’s programmatic buying and cross-channel marketing services on behalf of a growing number of clients.

He has been with Initiative for the past 12 months. Prior to that he was a senior digital manager at MEC.

Miki Clarke, MEC Australia head of performance, said: “It’s great to welcome Greg back to the MEC family. As the founding member of our social biddable team, his expertise and driving force will now be put to good use in the development of our Performance offering.

“With an increasing number of data and tech partnerships available in the programmatic arena, and cross-channel synergies, it’s imperative that the team and our clients have access to a growing number of industry experts who can assess, measure and optimise our way to even better results.”

Cattelain starts at MEC on Monday October 24 and will report to Clarke.

Meanwhile, Tilt is tasked with bringing a fresh perspective to solving the client challenges at Carat.

Tilt joins Carat after almost four years as Isobar where, for the past year-and-a-half he has been the interactive lead.

Commenting on his appointment Tilt said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the team at Carat. Not only do they have fantastic people and culture, but an envious client roster with a proven record of successfully pushing the boundaries. Leveraging my creative technology background, I look forward to bringing a unique lens to how we innovate with our clients.”

Carat chief digital officer, Sarah James, said: “Rob joins us from Isobar with diversity of thought and experience, a strong passion for technology and ultimately the focus to lead our clients in this fast-paced media landscape.

“He will not only be responsible for driving the innovation agenda with our clients, but also ensuring we are aligning with the right global media partners to keep Carat at the forefront of the digital economy.”

Tilt’s appointment is effective immediately.
