Media and agencies set for The Big Clash cricket match for charity

The Big Clash cricket showdown between media owners and agencies will be played for the third year on February 16, 2017, with the game raising funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia for the first time.

big-clashWith media and agencies having split the honours in the first two contests, the 2017 game will reveal who will wield the willow with more authority.

In what has become an annual fixture, the match helps raise funds for UnLtd, with funds going to support BackTrack’s girls program, Running Strong.

UnLtd CEO Paul Fisher said the match was a chance for companies accustomed to competing head-to-head to put their rivalries aside, with The Big Clash having raised more than $50,000 in its first two years.

“The Big Clash is a stand-out example of channelling our industry’s renowned competitive spirit to raise funds that change the lives of many young Australians, and UnLtd is excited again to be involved in what is fast becoming a must-watch media industry event,” Fisher said.

Paul Fisher welcomed support for UnLtd by media and ad industries.

Fisher: “UnLtd is excited to be involved in what is fast becoming a must-watch media industry event”

The match was the brainchild of Chris Freel, commercial director at Pandora ANZ, and Oliver Newton, national sales director at JCDecaux, with Newton calling on the industry to pack the stands.

“We would love to get more people down to the event this year,” Newton said.

“It’s not just the middle-aged men on the field, we have some great mystery guests popping down to support on the day, so please come down for a drink to watch the match of the year – and bring your teams, friends and families, too.”

The decision to help the Breast Cancer Network is in support of Mindshare chief investment officer, Nicola Lewis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer mid-way through 2016.

Lewis said she was delighted the event was supporting the charity which had done much to help her.

“Since my diagnosis, I‘ve been in awe of the level of care and support available for women with breast cancer in Australia,” Lewis said.

“And I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones. Outside of the system I also have great friends, a wonderful husband, an incredibly supportive workplace and importantly, as proven by the Big Clash event, an industry that genuinely cares for me.”

The Big Clash will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Sydney University Oval 1, with tickets available here.
