Media agency boss: Animosity in our industry is disappointing but we still value media partners

Mediaedge CIA boss Peter Vogel has told Mumbrella he is disappointed by the “animosity” shown by media reps over a leaked email regarding some of his staff declining appointments until next year.

The story posted by Mumbrella yesterday afternoon has generated one of the fastest growing comment streams since the site launched. At the time of posting it had received 116 comments.

It featured a note from a member of the agency’s digital team saying that because of “staffing issues” and the need to plan for 2011, no meetings would be held with sales reps until next year.

After the story broke in Mumbrella, the sales rep then emailed the media reps who had received the message asking whoever leaked it to own up.

MEC’s MD Peter Vogel told Mumbrella today:

“Firstly, I have no problem with Mumbrella having published this story.

“What I think has been more disappointing, is the level of animosity it has uncovered within our industry.

“I am very confident and comfortable that MEC enjoys very good relationships with our media partners.

“In fact, we are one of the few media agencies that hosts an annual event to recognise and thank our media partners for their support. We embrace media partners that deliver unique and innovative opportunities of engaging with our clients’ consumers. I can confirm that we are always willing to meet with these media partners. If anyone experiences problems in this regard, please feel free to call me.”
