Media reporter Jake Mitchell exits journalism for biz dev role at Stan

The Australian’s media writer Jake Mitchell has quit journalism for a business role at streaming service Stan.

Mitchell, who began his media career nearly five years ago at the AFR covering the media and marketing beat, later moved across to The Australian’s media section, before recently switching to its Street Talk column.

In the new role he will be business and corporate development manager for Stan, which is a joint venture between Fairfax Media and Nine.

“Jake’s background in business media and his extensive network within the industry makes him the perfect choice to expand our presence and develop new opportunities with our commercial partners,” Stan CEOe Mike Sneesby said. “We are excited to have Jake on board.”

Meanwhile, The Australian yesterday announced that the previous editor of its Monday Media pullout Stephen Brook would be returning to the section to edit its diary column.
