Mediacom appoints chief strategy officer, creates new data leadership role

WPP AUNZ’s Mediacom has appointed Sophie Price as chief strategy officer and Prajat Khare as managing director data-led planning & systems intelligence, the latter of which is a newly created role.

Mediacom’s previous chief strategy officer, Mike Deane, left in October 2019 to start his own consultancy.

Price joins Mediacom from M&C Saatchi’s Bohemia, where she had held the role of head of integrated strategy since May 2018. She has also held the role of chief strategy officer at UM Australia from January 2015 to August 2017.

She said of her appointment: “I’m truly excited by the opportunity to marry my skills in integrated strategy and creativity with the might of Mediacom’s data planning and technology capabilities, led by Prajat. This will be a powerful combination to accelerate our clients’ growth.”

Khare has relocated from Tokyo where he held the role of global account director on Japanese skincare brand SK-II. He has been with Mediacom since April 2010, having been promoted several times over, working with the company in Singapore and Germany as well as Japan.

In the new role, Khare will be responsible for end to end product transformation powered by Mediacom’s data, analytics and systems intelligence.

On his appointment, Khare commented: “In my decade long career with the MediaCom network, I’ve had opportunities to work across the value chain of our business, on different marque brands, in different countries and continents. I’ve embraced an always-on learning curve, and I’m really looking forward to continuing it in Australia.”

Medicom AUNZ’s CEO Yaron Farizon added: “In Sophie and Prajat, we have found world class talent that will add so much value and growth to our clients’ businesses. I am thrilled to announce this news as their appointments are reflective of our mission to further accelerate our planning and analytics product, and to both enhance our thought leadership and strategic capabilities.

“I have no doubt that having Sophie and Prajat join our team will only boost our planning, strategy, and data capabilities, to ensure our product is smart, fully integrated and future-proof. This is paramount for us, and I am excited to see what the future holds.”

Both national appointments are effective immediately, based in Sydney, and report to Farizon.
