Mediacom Sydney appoints planning director

Mediacom Sydney has brought in Ben Watson from the media agency network’s Chicago office to take up the role of director, client communications planning.

The announcement:

Ben Watson will join MediaCom’s Sydney office at the beginning of June following his transfer from the agency’s Chicago office where he was Associate Media Director.

Watson’s new role will be as Director, Client Communications Planning where he will focus on digital strategy.

Australian born Watson has spent a large part of his career overseas having worked in London, Beijing and most recently the United States over the past 6 years. “I’ve been in Chicago for over 3 years and I’m excited to be coming back to Australia, particularly because of the things happening at MediaCom back home,” said Watson.

During his time in Chicago Watson led the digital planning on ConAgra Foods, one of the largest FMCG companies in the US.

“We’re obviously thrilled to have Ben onboard. His digital strategy skills are exceptional and he’s a brilliant addition our team and he’ll be a huge asset for our clients,” said Mat Baxter, Chief Strategy Officer.

Watson’s previous clients have included ING, Telstra, Orange UK, Nestle China and Motorola China.

Andrew Livingston, Joint Head of Client Communications Planning said “Ben’s exactly the kind of person we’re looking to bring into our business to assist in the ongoing transformation of MediaCom.”
