Mediavest poaches Peter Butler from IPG Mediabrands to lead new Melbourne push

paul butlerThe Mediavest group has picked up IPG Mediabrands managing director Peter Butler to spearhead its launch into the Melbourne market.

Butler was set to take a “consulting role” at Mediabrands after the agency group picked up ex-Mediacom boss Mark Pejic to lead its Melbourne operations as part of a national reshuffle.

Sue Squillace has also been handed a promotion in the move, with the new title of managing director of Mediavest Australia, having set up the Sydney office of the Starcom conflict shop last year.

In a statement Starcom Mediavest Group CEO Chris Nolan said: “The Mediavest launch in Melbourne is a continuation of the growth and diversification of the Starcom Mediavest Group, designed to deliver close collaboration and personalised service across our client and publisher partners.

“Congratulations to both and thank you to Sue for her continued success with SMG and on this promotion.”

Since launching the agency has picked up Diageo, Canon and Hachette Partworks as clients.

Butler, who has been managing director of Medabrands in Melbourne for the last two years, said: “I am excited to be working with Sue to build the Mediavest brand in Australia.

“Having worked in both creative and media agencies, I believe in Mediavest’s approach that the best ideas come through collaboration of agencies, not their separation.

“As the challenge to connect with consumers intensifies, a shared strategic approach that combines insight and creativity, alongside technology and data will ensure brands are relevant and noticed.”

His appointment is effective from January 1, 2016.
