Medibank appoints new chief marketing officer

Medibank has named its new chief marketing officer, filling the role left vacant by Lisa Ronson’s sudden death last year.

Ronson died following an accident with an all-terrain vehicle at her property in regional Victoria in November. Tributes quickly began flowing in for the marketer, who was widely regarded as a sensitive, kind-hearted leader.

Medibank has appointed Myer’s chief customer officer Geoff Ikin to fill the role, starting in December. He is taking on responsibility from Carolyn Bendall, who took on the interim CMO role in July 2025.

Lisa Ronson

A Medibank spokesperson told The Australian: “We were devastated by the tragic passing of Lisa Ronson. Lisa was brilliant, loved and a much-respected member of our team at Medibank. She touched our lives with her huge heart, and we miss her.

“Geoff and Lisa were good friends and worked together for many years with similar shared values to work and family. We like to think Lisa would strongly endorse Geoff joining the Medibank team, a sentiment echoed by her family Chris and Ben.”

Ikin has been with Myer for nearly seven years, responsible for key customer facing functions. Prior to that, he spent three-and-a-half years at Tourism Australia, where he worked as general manager of global media, PR and social alongside Ronson who was CMO. He has also held senior marketing and media roles at Westpac and David Jones.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with Myer over the past seven years and what we’ve achieved, from the expansion of ecommerce to creating a leading loyalty program and seeing the company return to one of Australia’s most trusted brands. I’m proud to leave the brand in the hands of a strong leadership team with a clear path forward,” Ikin said, per The Australian.
