Medium Rare wins Jetstar inflight magazine publishing account

Medium Rare Content Agency has added another airline to its remit, winning a publishing and sales contract for budget airline Jetstar from Hardie Grant Media.

The content agency, which already works on the Qantas account, will redesign and relaunch Jetstar’s monthly inflight magazine this October.

Lunn will lead both the print and digital content for Jetstar

It comes two years after Hardie Grant Media relaunched the title, with a lifestyle content and photography focus.

Beyond print, Medium Rare will work with Jetstar’s content team to create stories and videos for the airline’s digital channels, including Jetstar.com. The company will also handle media sales for Jetstar.

As a result of the new contract, Jacqueline Lunn has been appointed editor of the Jetstar magazine. Lunn has worked across both print and digital, working at The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian and was previously editor of QantasLink’s Spirit magazine and Travel Insider.

Catriona Larritt, chief customer officer at Jetstar Airways, said she was excited about the new partnership and creating new concepts for print and digital content.

“We know our customers love reading and researching about new places to explore, discovering hidden gems and travelling off the beaten track. We look forward to sharing stories about the incredible variety of experiences that can be enjoyed across our network of more than 85 destinations to help inspire their next trip,” Larritt said.

Gerry Reynolds, managing director at Medium Rare, said the company was looking forward to both creating the content and providing advertisers with cross-platform opportunities.

“As the publisher of Qantas magazine and its digital extensions, as well as QantasLink’s Spirit magazine, we look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with Australia’s most iconic airline group,” Reynolds said.

Editor Lunn added:  “It’s a real privilege to be able to create stories about some of the most amazing destinations – and people – in the world.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s a six-page feature on the challenge of cycling through Bali in the magazine or a useful listicle on the best happy hours in Melbourne on Jetstar.com, I just want to create the most amazing content I can.”

Qantas Magazine and Travel Insider’s editor in chief, Kirsten Galliott, will be speaking at this year’s Mumbrella Publish on September 20. For more information or to get your earlybird ticket, click here.
