Melbourne-based Bubba Pizza is offering free cold pizza to hungover customers the day after the AFL Grand Final

Melbourne-based restaurant chain, Bubba Pizza, will be celebrating the day after Saturday’s AFL grand final, or as the business calls it ‘Grand Hangover Day’, by offering free cold pizza to its customers.

Victorians need to register on Bubba Pizza’s website to be selected for the delivery of a cold ‘Aussie’ – bacon and egg – pizza on Sunday. Each Bubba Pizza store has 200 spots available.

Customers will be informed at 10am on Saturday of their order acceptance and the approximate time between 10am and 12pm on Sunday the pizza will be delivered.

Bubba Pizza director, Damian Hopper, said it’s set to be a massive weekend.

“Grand Final weekend is a Melbourne institution, and part of that includes a sore head come Sunday. To prepare for what I like to call Grand Hangover Day, Bubba Pizza is this year offering to deliver free cold pizza across Victoria to help make hangovers a little better.

“We know what to expect this weekend, and we’re anticipating we will cook more than 7,500 pizzas, with the most popular order expected to once again be the humble ham and pineapple pizza.

“Our stores are fully stocked and ready for a busy weekend which will include around 800kgs of tomato sauce and more than 1,800kg of cheese – the equivalent of 20 AFL players.”

Earlier this year, take-away pizza chain, Crust, offered free pizza to Queensland residents after the state’s loss in the 2019 State of Origin series.
