Melbourne conference to focus on new documentary makers

Generation_Next_Documentary_ConferenceA new conference is to provide emerging documentary makers with a forum to develop their skills and discuss their work.

The Generation Next Documentary Conference takes place in Melbourne on October 13 and 14.

Among the topics covered are finance and production, along with how to sell finished work to broadcasters.  

The event – being held at Cinema Nova at Carlton in Melbourne, kicks off with an interview with documentary maker John Hughes.

Further discussions include how and why to get work into festivals, how to tell a story, funding options, ethics, how to work with a producer and how to pitch an idea.

The conference is being orgnaised by screen production and development centre Open Channel.
