Melbourne Cup wins Tuesday ratings with 2.122m tuning in from home to watch the race

Yesterday’s Melbourne Cup Race was watched by 2.122m people on Seven, growing from an audience of 1.390m who had tuned in for the pre-race action in the mounting yard.

The presentation of the Melbourne Cup to jockey Ryan Moore for his win on German horse Protectionist was watched by 1.630m.

While the numbers are all slightly down on last year’s, which saw 2.2m viewers tune in for the race, with 1.8m watching the Cup presentation. However, because OzTam does not measure out of home viewing such as in offices and pubs, it is likely that the number of viewers is underreported.
