Melbourne Flower and Garden Show secures Jenny Craig as presenting partner

The International Management Group, organiser of The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show has secured Jenny Craig as the presenting sponsor for the net three years, 2012-2014.

The announcement:

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show organisers, the International Management Group (IMG) is pleased to announce that Jenny Craig has been secured as the Show’s presenting sponsor from 2012 – 2014.

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show Event Director, Greg Hooton, is delighted with the sponsorship and the opportunities it presents for the hallmark event.

“The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is currently the most successful annual horticultural event in the Southern Hemisphere, and this sponsorship will ensure it continues to grow in stature and get better each year.”

Amy Smith, Managing Director Jenny Craig Australia and New Zealand, said the Show aligns with Jenny’s healthy living philosophy, as well as its fight against obesity and the alarming incidence of diabetes.

“Jenny is all about getting out, having fun and living life how it should be. The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is a great way to encourage a healthy lifestyle outdoors and to demonstrate how easy it is to include fresh produce in your daily diet.

“Reports say 275 Australians develop type 2 diabetes every day and it is estimated that by 2025 it will triple in prevalence, affecting three million Australians. The most alarming prediction is that one in three of today’s young Australians will develop type 2 diabetes. Essentially this disease is preventable through healthy diet and exercise and it’s our mission to prevent this through education, knowledge and support of healthy foods that come directly from the source.”

As part of the sponsorship, Jenny Craig will build a display garden at the Show titled “Fresh by Jenny Craig” which will feature cooking displays by celebrity chef Michael Moore – demonstrating how to create delicious (and nutritious!) meals using fresh produce, Jenny’s veggie patch, a growing wall of salads and a ‘know your herbs’ knowledge quiz.

Show-goers can also visit the site to receive advice on healthy living, and tips on bringing the garden into the kitchen, with guest appearances by one of Australia’s leading dietitians Karen Inge and Channel Ten Breakfast host, Jenny’s medical spokesperson Dr Andrew Rochford.

The Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show will be held at the heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens from Wednesday, 28 March to Sunday, 1 April 2012.

The event is expected to attract more than 110,000 international and local visitors who will enjoy everything from landscaping and floral exhibits, sustainable gardening demonstrations and student works, right though to art, children’s entertainment, food and bouquet making sessions.
