Melbourne Racing Club promotes Caulfield Cup Carnival with short film
The Melbourne Racing Club is promoting the Caulfield Cup Carnival with a short-film featuring Caulfield Style Ambassador Nicole Warne.
Created by De Republica, the film sees the Gary Pepper Girl blogger travel through a variety of locations before shots reveal her preparing for the carnival intermingled with shots of jockeys and horses also preparing.
De Republica creative director Eli Rae said: “The Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup Carnival is such a prestigious event, it’s a day where so many different people come together to create a short but exhilarating moment: from jockeys, to fashionistas, to thoroughbreds and milliners – it’s a time to celebrate the people who lead the pack.
“We set out to create an awe-inspiring and whimsical exploration of Nicole’s journey to this year’s event. As Nicole’s world is made up of a mosaic of beautiful imagery, stunning locations, vivid colour, and above all impeccable fashion and style – our goal was to bring this world to life through motion.”
The film also showcases “race-ready looks” from David Jones’ stable of designers including Dion Lee, Camilla & Mark, Manning Cartell, Lover and Alice McCall.
Melbourne Racing Club CEO Brodie Arnhold said: “The Caulfield Journey beautifully captures the passion and beauty that racing inspires both on and off the track. As the premiere event of the spring racing season, we see the Crown Golden Ale Caulfield Cup Carnival is the ultimate place to experience that feeling.”

Feels a bit film school.
Heading to the Caulfield races is anything but a majestic journey! Rainforest, sand dunes, brisk stroll on the beach? Not even close. You endure hordes of intoxicated bogans on public transport for 30mins, then shuffle around a clapped out paddock in searing heat, searching for refuge in the exclusive glass shed.

Nice to see the racing community doing something different from those cheese ball ads they normally run.

Poor girl doesn’t look like she’s enjoying it much – same stoic expression for the whole two minutes.

Great video with lovely music. But who is going to see it? If this mob really want to improve attendance at the track they need to be on broadcast mediums reaching lots of people.
