FoxFM has ended the year as the top FM station in Melbourne with a stable share of 8.5, with Fairfax Radio’s 3AW maintaining its lead position overall with an audience share of 12.8.

In breakfast, Triple M’s breakfast team of Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Mick Molloy claimed the FM ratings crown with a share of 7.8, while FoxFM’s breakfast with Fifi and Dave settled for second place with a share of 7.2, down 0.2 points on the November survey.

Across the year Triple M’s breakfast show won three of the rating periods outright and tied with Nova 100 in a fourth period. FoxFM won twice in breakfast, with Mix1.101 winning survey three.

Overall, Southern Cross Austereo’s TripleM  had a Monday to Sunday audience share of 6.3, settling for fifth place in the FM rankings behind smoothfm (7.4) and Nova (7.8).

Gold’s Brig and Lehmo boosted their breakfast share by 0.6 points to post a share of 7.1, claiming third place in the FM breakfast rankings ahead of Nova’s Meshel and Tommy who had a share of 6.7. Mix101.’s Chrissy Swan and Jane Hall had a share of 5.9, down 0.3 share points. Swan has been dumped from the breakfast show, with Mix101.1 rebranding to KiisFM next year with Jane Hall to be partnered up with Matt Tilley.

Mix101.1 had an overall audience share of 6.3 while Gold grabbed a share of 8 and Nova posted a share of 7.8.

The overall breakfast ratings crown once again went to Fairfax Radio’s 3AW breakfast team of Ross and John who dominated the breakfast slot, boosting its audience by 1.8 points to a share of 18.5, well ahead of the ABC 774’s share of 13.7.

3AW also won overall in Melbourne with a share of 12.8, with ABC774 again settling for second place with a share of 10.

It was a similar story in the drive timeslot, with 3AW claiming victory in the AM market with a share of 8.8 ahead of the ABC’s share of 8.5. However 3AW was not victorious overall, with FoxFM’s national Drive show with Dan and Maz, who are set to move into the breakfast timeslot on 2DayFm in Sydney next year, reigning supreme with a share of 10.3 after a boost in its audience of 0.2 share points.

Nova’s national show with Kate, Tim and Marty claimed second place with a share of 10, boosting its audience by 0.5 share points, ahead of Gold which grabbed a share of 7.7.

The Australian Radio Network’s syndicated Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross Drive show on Mix101.1 grew its audience by 0.7 points to a share of 7.3. Rosso will not be back in the drive timeslot next year as ARN rebrands Mix in Melbourne to Kiis, bringing in Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek for the drive show.

For 2014 Nova won drive, winning a total of five surveys ahead of FoxFM which won three surveys.
