Plantable postcard for Melbourne Water wins Postcard of the Year

Melbourne Water postcardA plantable postcard designed by Chorus Studio for Melbourne Water has taken out the top prize for the Postcard of the Year in Sydney last night.

The winning postcard promoted sustainable living by having seeds embedded in the cards, which can then be planted. The card was created by Melbourne agency Chorus Studio for Melbourne Water’s 10,000 Raingardens campaign, which ran in July last year.

The top prize of the night was an advertising campaign valued at $20,000.

The awards are organised by promotional postcard company Avant Card.

Runners up were Nudie’s Nudie Me card designed by Jack Watts Currie in second place, and Perth Festival’s music promotion card in third.

Avant Card managing director Pat Mackle said: “This year’s competition was our most competitive yet, with some stunning creative campaigns from around the country,” Mackle said.

“Melbourne Water’s brilliant planting card sent the competition green, quite literally, and we applaud them on their inventiveness and slick execution.”

The judges were: Kevin Moreland of BCM, Tom Spicer of Arnold Furnace, Samantha Begg of Traffic, Michael Berry of HBT Agency, David Ponce de León of BD Australia Network, Gary Horner of The Brand Agency, Matt Johnson of Grey Canberra, James Rickard of KWP! Advertising, Tahnee Le Pine of Cyclone, Sandra Hind of the hoopla family, Lisa Taylor of Imagination, and Warrick Sears of Red Jelly.
