Melbourne’s historic outdoor ads get new life on Google
An interactive tour of Melbourne’s outdoor advertising history has been named as the best use of mapping technology in a Google-organised competition.
The My Maps Australia Awards saw competitors challenged to make the most original use of Google Maps.
And Anthony Malloy, owner of Melbourne web design agency Between Coffees, won a Macbook for his work which showcases Melbourne’s historic outdoor signs. Writing on the Google Australia blog today, Google product marketing manager Katharina Friedrich said: “Many entrants surprised us with their outstanding creativity and quirky Aussie knowledge.”
Malloy’s labour of love takes in more than 100 of the historic signs.
