Menswear brand YP Threads appoints The PR Team to its public relations account

The PR Team has added Brisbane-based menswear brand YP Threads to its client roster.

The news comes just two weeks after the agency was appointed to the PR account for Solomon Airlines. In January, the agency also won Hawaiian Airlines’ Australian and New Zealand PR account.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison with YP Threads founders Jake and James Kelder

YP Threads was created in 2016 by brothers Jake and James Kelder, making party shirts, board shorts and socks from custom-designed fabrics. The company has recently branched out into corporate and sporting wear, and secured its first US corporate clients in Rugby Sevens teams including the Austin Huns and Santa Monica Dolphins.

The brand has also collaborated with Australian swimwear company Budgy Smuggler to offer matching limited-edition designs.

The PR Team account coordinator, Brendan Harrington, said: “We are excited to work with such a fun young creative Australian brand and to add our expertise.”

Jake Kelder said: “We take our business seriously but not ourselves. Our product taps into the light hearted Australian sense of humour and three years in we’re really encouraged by response to our product from Aussie consumers and a growing number of corporate and sporting organisations.”
