MG Motor Australia announces new head of marketing

Vehicle provider MG Motor Australia has bolstered its communications and marketing team with several professionals.

The organisation has confirmed that David Hearty now holds the position of national marketing director of MG Motor Australia, having been promoted from national digital manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Heart’s role will see him push the MG Motor brand in another direction, one that focuses on electric vehicles, an expanding dealer network, accessories and community.

Another confirmed role is PR and communications manager for ANZ with veteran marketer, journalist and communications expert, David Giammetta, at the helm. Having previously worked in various organisations, including News Corp Australia and NSW Health, Giametta’s appointment is designed “to uplift the brand reputation” via strategising with several arms – brand, product, digital, wider marketing, sponsorships, and the international team.

Former Sydney City MG dealer principal, Kim Nguyen, is taking on the sales director role where she will be working alongside MG Motor Australia’s chief executive officer to shape the organisation’s “strategic direction and operations”.

Nguyen’s appointment will also touch upon product introductions, and bolstering partnerships, sales and overall market share.

The company’s director of network development is Peter Coorey, a veteran manager whose expertise consolidates more than two decades’ worth of experience as both a general manager and standard manager. Previously, Coorey worked as MG Motor’s head of sales and strategy.

Ex-chief people officer and consultant, Mark Roberts, was announced as director of human resources with responsibilities covering Australia and New Zealand. The final two positions, aftersales director ANZ and national sales manager, are being performed by Kenneth Lu and Brad Chruszcz, respectively.

The new marketing and communications team roster comes after MG Motor Australia was announced as the auto partner of this year’s Mardi Gras parade.
