Michael Branagh switches from Sapient Nitro to head Nine’s integrated sales team Powered

michael branaghThe boss of Sapient Nitro’s Brisbane operation has defected to Nine Entertainment Co as director of its integrated offering Powered.

Michael Branagh managed the agency at the time it created the multi award winning Best Job In The World promotion for Tourism Queensland.

Nine Entertainment Co, previously PBL, is the holding company of Nine, ACP Magazines and the NineMSN joint venture with Microsoft.

Announcing Branagh’s appointment, Peter Wiltshire, group sales and marketing director of Nine Entertainment Co said: “Michael Branagh is one of Australia’s most experienced advertising professionals and I’m thrilled to have someone of his calibre leading the Powered team. Through Nine Entertainment Co. Michael will have access to some of Australia’s most powerful media brands and we’re looking forward to seeing him harness their full potential to amplify the results for our clients.”  

Branagh said: “I’m excited to take up the challenge of leading the integrated media offering for Nine Entertainment Co. My role will be to bring high level idea-based marketing leadership to Powered and to build stronger relationships with advertisers through the strategic alignment of their objectives with Nine Entertainment Co.’s combined media assets and scale.”

Although Sapient Nitro also has offices in Melbourne and Sydney, the Brisbane operation run by Branagh has been seen as the network’s leading Australian office. Branagh also looked after Sapient Nitro’s global clients.

Wiltshire said: “Together with Louise Barrett at ACP Magazines, Ian Paterson at the Nine Network and Dean Capobianco at ninemsn, Michael completes the sales and client leadership team at Nine Entertainment Co. I am delighted to be working with such an outstanding team of executives as our new structure continues to evolve and mature” Peter said.

Branagh will start the new role in June.
