Michael Godwin named as boss of JWT Melbourne

Michael Godwin - New JWT Melb MD mumbrellaJWT has appointed DDB’s Michael Godwin as MD of its Melbourne office following the promotion of John Gutteridge to the national CEO role.

The announcement:

John Gutteridge, JWT Australasia CEO, today announced that Michael Godwin will take up the position of Managing Director of JWT Melbourne on October 25 this year.

Godwin, whose stellar career actually began at JWT Melbourne working on the Ford account, has held high level executive positions at DDB in Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne since 1998. Largely credited for retaining and growing the McDonalds account, Godwin was also instrumental in DDB winning the Coles account. Godwin has resigned from his Executive Director position at DDB Melbourne to take on the JWT MD role. “Michael has one of those infectious personalities. He is a born leader with a proven track record of building and growing solid relationships around him. His love for the creative product and intuition for business practice really impressed me. There is no one better suited to continue the transformation of our Melbourne business,” said Gutteridge.

Godwin said, “The recent years spent working across the region with DDB have made me a firm believer in the ability of the bigger agency networks to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing communication landscape. JWT is no exception. Pioneering change is central to its brand DNA and is a key reason for its global success and the enduring strength of its client relationships. The process of getting to know the local office has given me a strong sense of the spirit, passion and talent of the Melbourne team, which under John’s leadership has built very positive momentum. There’s still much to be achieved however and I very much look forward to helping JWT Melbourne, its people and its clients’ brands realise their potential.”
