Michael Johnstone joins Medical Media as commercial director

Medical Media has appointed the former CEO of CafeScreen and vice president of MTV Network Australia and New Zealand, Michael Johnstone, as its commercial director and head of revenue.

In 2011, Johnstone became the CEO of digital out-of-home company CafeScreen. He was at the helm when Ooh Media took a majority stake in the company in 2012, before fully acquiring it in 2015.

In his new role at Medical Media, Johnstone will be responsible for maximising revenue and local sales.

“The combination of two major growth areas – digital out of home and health – presents an enormous opportunity for Medical Media, as our unique strengths lie in servicing clients focused
on health in trusted environments,” Johnstone said in a statement.

Nazar Musa, CEO of Medical Media, added: “The businesses is scaling, we needed someone with experience in local sales and relationships in nationals sales. MJ’s background is entrepreneurial, exemplified by CafeScreen, is really valuable.”

Johnstone’s appointment comes four month after the media company hired Natalie Smith as its head of marketing.
