Michael Pooley promoted to PPR CEO

WPP’s PPR has promoted its former chief operating officer Michael Pooley to CEO across both Australia and New Zealand.

Pooley joined PPR 10 years ago as a group director of corporate and public affairs.

Michael Pooley starts his new role as CEO effective immediately

Three years later, Pooley was promoted to the role of director of strategy and general manager of PPR Sydney.

In 2015, he became the executive director and chief operating officer at the public relations agency.

Pooley’s chief operating officer role will be included in his new position as CEO.

Pooley is taking over from interim CEO Katrina Brangwin.

“Our unique network of offices means brands who partner with us have access to insights and relationships into the markets and interest groups that matter because our teams physically live there. By living and breathing these communities it means they deeply understand how they work, live and play and can devise effective campaigns that resonate,” Pooley said speaking of his appointment.

As part of the promotion PPR will also be unveiling a new brand identity and positioning to “clearly articulate its unique offering”.

WPP AUNZ CEO PR and PA, Kieran Moore, said in a statement: “WPP AUNZ has a lot of ambition for PPR and Michael matches that ambition.  He has a firm vision for the agency’s future, is committed to horizontality across the wider WPP AUNZ Group and his client skills are nothing short of excellent.  It’s a great privilege to be able to promote within the
ranks of WPP and I look forward to working with him.”

Earlier this month PPR appointed its first director of planning and insights Allan Dib and won the Subway PR account.

PPR’s clients include Woolworths, Subway, BWS and Colgate.
