Michele Teague out at The Campaign Palace Sydney

Michelle Teague Campaign PalaceMichele Teague, the managing director of The Campaign Palace Sydney, is to leave the agency after just eight months in the job, Mumbrella can reveal.

Teague joined The Palace in September 2010 from Telecom NZ where she was head of communications for retail.

Mark Mackay, the agency’s chairman, told Mumbrella: “Some things in life don’t always turn out as planned. We reached a point where we felt that it would be mutually beneficial if Michele moved on. We really appreciate the effort she’s put in and wish her well.”

He added: “We have a good leadership team in place, and we’re very happy with the people we’ve got. I will be fulfilling Michele’s responsibilities as CEO.”

Teague’s exit follows soon after the departure of Megan Hales, who left to join BWM.

A key client departure during Teague’s reign was Domino’s. She joined just as Westpac took its $32m business elsewhere.

The agency’s only remaining clients of note are Bonds, Panasonic and Target.

A rare recent highlight for The Palace was the win of a bronze film lion at Cannes for ‘No expert’ for the Panasonic G2 digital camera.

The Campaign Palace Sydney ranked 30th out of 30 agencies in a Mumbrella creative agency survey of its readers and an expert panel.

One panellist described The Palace as “an agency racing headlong into oblivion”. Another commented: “Management instability is destroying what was once an iconic brand.”

In July, Y&R’s global CEO David Sable, said of The Campaign Palace in an interview with Mumbrella: “It’s a cyclical business. I think they hit a rough patch. We’re focused on it. Keep your eyes on it over the next year. That cycle’s going to change.”
