Moon closes Melbourne office

Moon Communications has closed its Melbourne office on St Kilda Road after less than two years in business, Mumbrella can reveal.

The STW Group brand agency, which launched in November 2009, had just three staff.

The agency’s key client was local lingerie brand Bendon. It has also worked with Melbourne-based advertisers Jeans West and Country Road.

At presstime, Moon still lists its Melbourne office on its website. Calls are directed to sister STW Group agency, Badjar Ogilvy, where Moon was based.

A statement from Moon’s CEO Anouk Darling (pictured), sent to Mumbrella, read:

The Moon Melbourne office consisted of 3 staff members, one account manager, one senior creative and one junior, who all chose to move to Melbourne for personal reasons over different timeframes. Moon supported their choices and in order to keep them, set up space for them within the STW Melbourne Office space.

Moon also thought their choice to move would be a good opportunity to provide on- the-ground staff for the Melbourne clients. It has been a successful offering, however two years on and with more time bringing them back to Sydney to work with the Moon collective and join in our training programs, we wanted them back on Moon’s home turf. These changes do not impact Moon’s Melbourne clients who are happy to be serviced by Sydney as they were before these team members wanted to move South.

For various personal reasons the staff have decided not to return to Moon, of course every effort has been made to find other Melbourne roles and we’re also hoping to re-engage them for project work.
