Mick Fanning’s story about his brush with a Great White Shark lifted Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes last night which along with The Voice gave the channel a commanding win on Sunday night.

The launch of the live shows of The Voice held up strongly with 1.467m viewers for the two-hour show from 7pm, while the return of the champion surfer to the water drew 1.08m viewers despite its post 9pm showing according to OzTam’s overnight metro ratings.

Last night was Ten’s first Sunday post the finale of Masterchef which saw the network’s audience share fall back below the ABC, but Seven also saw a fall in audience for one its main shows Dancing with Stars, which slid for the third consecutive week to 707,000. 

Seven’s current affairs show Sunday Night drew 1.04m while Ten’s highest rating show was Gold Coast Cops which drew 550,000 viewers.

In the news stakes Nine News beat Seven with an audience of 1.45m to 1.36m respectively.

Over the on the ABC Grand Designs was the highest rating program outside of news/current affairs and The Voice which saw 935,000 viewers tune in.

Nine won the night with an overall share of 28.3 per cent, Seven had 20.3 per cent while Ten had 9.1 per cent, behind the ABC’s 11.8 per cent.

On Friday night Australia’s loss to England in the second Ashes test saw 572,000 viewers tune in for the first session and 467,000 viewers from 10.30pm.
