Million Dollar Drop stems ratings decline

Pulling in 730,000 viewers last night, Nine’s Million Dollar Drop showed signs of recovery after a worrying few weeks of shrinking audiences.

The show beat its Monday night performance of 644,000 and again ratings peaked during the last fifteen minutes of the show, when it drew an audience of 1.083m.

Unlike last Thursday, the show aired in Melbourne as well as Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, adding 221,000 viewers to the total and shunting the show into the top 15 most watched on the night, according to metro ratings from OzTam.

A Nine spokesperson said that word of mouth was helping to improve ratings for the show, which he called “a great format full of suspense and drama.”

Melbourne also gave a boost to Nine’s The Footy Show, where 313,000 viewers tuned in – almost half of the total 681,000.

Only three shows, Seven News, Today Tonight and Nine News, pulled in a total audience of more than 1m.

Top of the digital shows was Eleven’s Neighbours, with 305,ooo, which peaked at 384,000.
