Mindshare confirms new chief strategy officer

Robert Bellamy has returned to Australia after eight years to take up the recently vacated role of chief strategy officer at GroupM’s Mindshare.

The role has been open since former CSO Catherine Rushton departed the agency in February to join indie media firm This Is Flow as its first CSO.

Bellamy joins from Initiative UK, where he was most recently head of growth, leading new business strategy and organic growth and driving culture in the London agency post-pandemic.

With more than a decade of experience in the media and marketing industry, Bellamy will be responsible for driving Mindshare’s strategic direction and further strengthening its Good Growth brand positioning, reporting into chief product officer, Gavin Gibson, who joined the agency in September.

His began his career at Naked Australia, later moving to UM Australia, before heading overseas to work in a number of international roles.

He has worked on high-profile global and Australian clients such as the NSW Government, Xbox, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Fitbit, LS&Co, GoPro, and Gallo.

Of the appointment, Maria Grivas, Mindshare Australia & New Zealand CEO, said: “Rob has extensive experience leading transformative strategies for clients that support business and brand growth, as well as experience building teams, supporting people and leading the next generation of market leading strategists.”

Bellamy added: “I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to return home to Australia than to join Mindshare and lead its renowned strategy team. I’ve had the pleasure of working in markets all over the world, but nothing matches the drive, quality and fun of the Aussie industry. As a strategist, my passion is to unpack a client’s business challenges and bring creativity and data together to solve them.”

Bellamy joins Mindshare Australia in August.
