Miranda Ward departs the AFR to join Dentsu comms team

The Australian Financial Review’s media and marketing reporter, and former Mumbrella deputy editor, Miranda Ward has joined Dentsu as senior communications manager.

Ward spent two years as the lead media and marketing reporter at the AFR, a masthead in Nine Entertainment Co’s publishing portfolio.

She initially joined Nine as a senior journalist at Nine.com.au in 2017 from Mumbrella.

She was communications manager at Nine between 2018 and 2020, then joined the AFR in a return to journalism. Ward joined Mumbrella in 2013 as a reporter before finishing up as deputy editor.

Dentsu appointed Annalise Brown last September into the newly created role of chief marketing officer, heading up communications across all of its local brands in Australia and New Zealand.

Brown left Dentsu earlier this year, and Mumbrella asked Dentsu about whether a replacement will be appointed.

The AFR recently appointed Mark Di Stefano as its new media and tech correspondent, returning from the UK where he was also a media and tech reporter at the Financial Times.
