MKTG leadership changes: Matt Connell promoted APAC MD

MKTG Sports & Entertainment has shaken up its leadership team, expanding the role of managing director, Matt Connell, to cover the APAC region and promoting Jarrad Provis to general manager of marketing strategy.

Connell has been with the Dentsu-owned agency for five years, with global CEO, Matt Manning, praising his work diversifying the agency’s offering.

Connell’s remit has been expanded to cover APAC

“Australia is an important and exciting market for MKTG and Dentsu, and Matt has done a fantastic job over the last five years building out a great team and an evolved service offering,” Manning said.

“I also applaud the leadership for diversifying its capabilities from what was a successful sports and entertainment business, to setting the industry standard across commercial rights, product innovation, and delivery excellence that is providing meaningful impact and value to all of its partners and clients.”

Connell said 2021 will be a new chapter for the agency.

“2021 represents a significant milestone for the MKTG Australia team,” he said.

“We are beginning a new chapter for our business as a core player in the formal combination of MKTG sports and entertainment and Dentsu Sports International. We are confident that together we will exceed in delivering new opportunities and value to clients and partners across the local MKTG and Dentsu ANZ business and beyond.”

Provis has been promoted after two years with MKTG

Provis joined MKTG in 2018 and has been elevated from the position of client solutions partner. Previously, he was head of client leadership and operations at Carat – another Dentsu International agency.

Joining the Australian team is Stephanie Rudnick as head of global communications. Rudnick has relocated to Sydney from New York, where she previously worked for MKTG as the agency’s global communications team lead, while concurrently running her own consultancy. She has also held a number of sports communications roles, most recently senior vice president of communications and media relations for the XFL and head of public relations for the Angel City Football Club.

In her new role at MKTG, Rudnick will also head up the agency’s new hospitality and events offering.

Connell added: “Over the last five years, we have made a substantial investment in both product innovation and hiring the best talent to help solidify MKTG ANZ as the most respected and dependable sports and entertainment business in the region.

“Despite the challenges of the last 12 months, our nimble business model, access to resources driven by our incredibly talented team allowed us to pivot and create solutions that delivered great results for our clients.”
