MAFS reunion specials to air on 31 January and 7 February

The two-part Married at First Sight reunion special will air at 7pm on 31 January and 7 February, Nine has confirmed.

This means the first part will likely go against the live finale of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, the date of which is yet to be confirmed by Ten.

The special episodes will feature some of the most memorable contestants from previous series of Married at First Sight, the ratings juggernaut which has consistently delivered above one million metro viewers per episode to Nine.

Last season premiered to 1.15 million metro viewers and the finale pulled 1.48 million.

In the first part of the reunion, airing on Sunday 31 January, controversial personalities including Dean Wells, Cyrell Paule, and Ines Basic will attend a dinner party, joined by: Tracey Jewel, Jessika Power, Martha Kalifatidis, Michael Brunelli, Sarah Roza, Nasser Sultan, Troy Delmege, Ashley Irvin, Mike Gunner, Charlene Perera, Jo McPharlin, Ryan Gallagher, Lizzie Sobinoff and Sebastian Guilhaus.

In an announcement, Nine promised it’s a “television event not to be missed”.

“Old flames reunite, friendships are formed, and broken ones mended, past conflicts resurface, redemption is earned and after all this time, people are held accountable for their actions,” read the statement.

In the second part on 7 February, the group will recap the dinner party with relationship experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling, in addition to talking about what life has been like since they left the experiment.

The reunion series, along with a domestic edition of Travel Guides premiering on 26 January, will fill the gap left by a delayed Australian Open, now set to begin on Monday 8 February.

Many tennis players who have arrived in Australia to compete in the Open have been forced into quarantine after fellow flight passengers tested positive to COVID-19.

While players who do not have COVID-19 are permitted to train outside for five hours per day while in their 14 day hotel quarantine, a number of players have said they would have reconsidered participating had they known of the rules.

Last week, Seven announced Holey Moley will launch on 1 February, in the same time slot as Ten’s The Amazing Race’s premiere.
